Kevin became director of the Center for Crops Utilization Research (CCUR) in 2015. From 1996 to 2015, he was a professor at Purdue University and North Carolina State University in Food Science and Agricultural and Biological Engineering and was director of the Food Processing Environmental Assistance Center at Purdue University. In 2014 Kevin was a Distinguished Fulbright Professor and spent time teaching classes in global food security and food manufacturing at Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy Russian State Agrarian University (RSAU-MTAA). In his former positions, Kevin delivered over 100 workshops on food safety, food processing, food technology and food sustainability. His research has focused on development of novel food manufacturing technologies and secured over $3.5 million dollars in research funding. These research results have led to a number of technology innovations and patents. He has published over 100 combined refereed publications, book chapters, and extension bulletins. As Center Director his priority is to enhance the Center visibility and leverage staff expertise and services available for industry and faculty aiding in conducting cutting edge research and outreach programming in food, feed, and biomaterials industry with a focus on addressing global issues such as sustainability and food security.
