Welcome to the Biorenewables Initiative

Production and use of biorenewables can lessen our dependence on foreign oil and fossil fuels, reduce pollution and add value to Iowa's agricultural resources. This research initiative will engage in research to reduce the input energy/cost of producing soybean oil-based biofuels and biolubricants.

The Goal of the Biorenewables Initiative

The goal of the Biorenewables Initiative is to develop feedstocks tailored for the production of biobased products and bioenergy. To meet these challenges, Plant Sciences (Iowa State University) has partnered with the ISU Bioeconomy Initiative to address problems up to the farmgate, while the Bioeconomy Initiative will deal with matters beyond the farmgate, such as processing and utilization.
