Goals:

Compare and contrast the production chains for hydrocarbons and for Biodiesel so as
to examine the economic advantages and disadvantages of plant based Biodiesel.

Condcut market and economic feasibility analyses of the likely research ouput of the
original funded the Biorenewables Initiative.

Summary:

Market impediments and life-cycle impacts in adopting genetically modified crops with
improved oil characteristics will be identified and strategies developed for commercialization.
In addition, market analysis and life-cycle impacts will be conducted comparing production
chains for hydrocarbons and biodiesel to determine advantages and disadvantages
of biofuels.
