The National Manufacturing Company Dough Mixer has a dough capacity of 200-325 grams, although a 100-200 gram-capacity model is also available.  The unit is powered by a 1/3 HP capacitor-type motor that drives a speed reducer, which in turn drives the orbital mixing head through use of a horizontal-V belt drive.  Adjustment of the speed reducer allows for maintaining proper belt tension.  The twin-planetary “forks” stretch the dough over the two-stationary pins within the mixing bowl, as well as working the dough against the outside wall of the bowl.  The planetary-type, orbital mixing head is machined from solid Duralumin bar stock; with shaft gears lubricated in a bath of oil.  Timken bearings are used throughout the automotive-type oil seals, preventing leakage.  The carriage which holds the mixing bowl is made of heavy-cast aluminum bushed with bronze to slide with ease on the ground and polished stainless-steel vertical ways (shafts).  All mixing pins are made of stainless steel.  The built-in timer has a 15-minute dial that can be used as an ON-OFF switch, as well as a timer.  The two-way switch constitutes a disconnect switch.
